[Bethlehem, Pa.] Life is busy – a business, a family, a dog, a cat, a home, volunteer commitments, coaching, pro bono work – but when my mother and three of my four sisters were diagnosed with breast cancer over the course of a decade, it was time to pump the brakes, slow down and take a close look. That closer look in 2011 led to my decision to have a prophylactic double mastectomy, the same surgery that Angelina Jolie underwent.
As a result of Angelina Jolie’s announcement, I have been approached several times to share information about my experience, prophylactic double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, oophorectomy and genetic testing. I am committed to helping others who may be facing the same tough decisions. To this end, I have decided to share my story as it was recently presented in The Morning Call.
